I have now added a cleaner, smarter cookie banner for every Djangify store
Every store built on Djangify eCommerce System just got a more modern, more compliant cookie banner and it applies automatically across all themes.
What changed
A new look. The old cookie notice was a bar stretching across the bottom of the page. It's now a compact card that sits neatly in the bottom-right corner, so it never dominates the screen or gets in the way of what a visitor came to do.
Real choice, not just a formality. Alongside "Accept all," visitors can now click "Reject non-essential" or open "Manage preferences" to control cookie categories individually - essential cookies (cart, login, security) stay on, while analytics cookies are opt-in.
Analytics only runs with permission. Previously, Google Analytics loaded on every page regardless of what a visitor chose in the banner. That's now fixed: analytics stays switched off by default and only activates once a visitor actually consents, using Google's official Consent Mode. It's a small technical change with a big compliance impact.
One banner, every theme. The banner used to be copied separately into each theme, which meant updates could drift out of sync. It's now a single shared component, so every store (whatever theme it uses) gets the same behaviour and the same fixes going forward.
Why it matters
Cookie banners are often an afterthought, but they're one of the first things a visitor notices and one of the first things a regulator checks. A banner that's easy to dismiss, genuinely optional, and doesn't quietly load tracking scripts before someone's agreed to it is both better UX and better compliance.
What store owners need to do
Nothing. The update is already part of the base template, so it rolls out automatically the next time your site is updated. You will have already updated your cookie policy page and it's still linked directly from the banner exactly as before.
Small change, but the kind that matters for your visitors and for your peace of mind.
